ABOUT THE COMPANY

Momix is an internationally renowned dance and visual illusion company, under the direction of Moses Pendleton, presenting work of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty for more than forty-five years. Based in Washington, Connecticut, the company has cultivated a devoted international following through its distinctive blend of movement, illusion, athleticism, and visual poetry. Alongside live stage performances worldwide, MOMIX has collaborated extensively in film, television, and corporate advertising, creating national commercials for Hanes and Target, and special presentations for Mercedes-Benz, Fiat, and Pirelli. The company has also appeared in large-scale global events, including the 2014 Sochi Olympic Closing Ceremony and the 2017 Dubai National Day celebrations.

MOMIX performances have been featured on PBS’s Dance in America series, France’s Antenne II, and Italian RAI television, with broadcasts reaching audiences in fifty-five countries. The Rhombus Media film of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, featuring MOMIX with the Montreal Symphony, received an International Emmy for Best Performing Arts Special. Using light, shadow, fabric, props, and the human body, MOMIX continues to astonish and delight audiences worldwide.

Moses Pendleton is internationally recognized for pioneering a distinctive performance style that merges movement, illusion, and theatrical invention across decades of influential work.

Associate Director

A former principal dancer with the company, Cynthia Quinn now acts as Associate Director, guiding dancers with her musicality, precision, and knowledge of the MOMIX style.

Our artists are highly versatile, trained in dance and acrobatics, blending strength, precision, athleticism, and artistry to create MOMIX’s distinctive visual language.

1991

Premiere of PASSION, created to the score of Peter Gabriel’s “The Last Temptation of Christ”

1994

Premiere of BASEBALL, a tribute to America’s favorite pastime, created in collaboration with the San Francisco Giants.

2002

Premiere of OPUS CACTUS, on the theme of the American Southwestern Desert, created in collaboration with the Ballet Arizona.

2005

Premiere of LUNAR SEA, a new stylistic spectacle created entirely in blacklight. Created in collaboration with the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.

2009

Premiere of BOTANICA, a work dedicated to the wonders of nature with props designed by puppeteer Michael Curry

2013

Premiere of ALCHEMY, a work revolving around the intricacies of the four elements.

2015
